NASCAR's publication of the 2013 season schedule for the Sprint Cup Series has confirmed that there are only very minor changes to the calendar compared with 2012.
The season gets underway at
Daytona International Speedway with the pre-season Shootout on February 16 the weekend before the first Cup race of the year, the
Daytona 500 on February 24.
The first race of the 2013 Chase will once again be Chicagoland, next year scheduled for September 15; and the season will conclude as normal at Homestead on November 17.
The only alteration in the 2013 calendar compared with this season is the switching back of the running order of the Talladega and Kansas autumn races, which had been swapped around this year to accommodate the repaving project at Kansas Speedway.
The Sprint Cup races are the big 'tentpole' events around which facilities plan their entire year's activities, and circuits jealously guard their spots on the Sprint Cup schedule which is why there is usually very little change to the running order or the dates for race weekends.
Now that the Sprint Cup Series had confirmed its season line-up for 2013, the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series should be able to do likewise fairly quickly.
Also hoping to announce their provisional 2013 calendar this weekend is the IZOD
IndyCar Series, which is reportedly set to reveal an 18-race line-up for next season.
