NASCAR has confirmed that there will be little change to the Sprint Cup Series season schedule in 2014, with only one minor tweak to the running order compared with this year's calendar.

"This season has delivered plenty of drama and excitement, and we're anticipating even more for our fans in 2014 now that the Gen-6 car has competed at every track," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR's senior vice president of racing operations.

The sole change is a swap for Darlington Raceway and Kansas Speedway in the spring. With Kansas planning its first night time event, the venue will benefit from a slightly later date and so takes up the May 10 spot when evening temperatures will be in the mid 50s Fahrenheit compared with the low 40s in its usual April 12 spot, which is taken up instead by the only Darlington outing of the year in a direct exchange.

While retaining its position in the running order, Texas moves its spring date forward a week and from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon on April 6 because of NCAA men's basketball sporting events taking place in Dallas over the same weekend.

The ten Chase races remain the same, with Richmond International Raceway on September 6 the last race before the play-offs begin at Chicagoland Speedway the following week, and the final race of the season being staged at the traditional Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16.

NASCAR also announced that it would be making its innovative new Air Titan track drying system available at every Cup race weekend in 2014, after its successful introduction in April this year at Martinsville and fine-tuning at further select events in 2013.

"Having the Air Titan at each NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend allows us to meet a very important goal set by our Chairman and CEO, Brian France: to drastically decrease track-drying time to the best of our ability and ensure our fans in the stands and those watching on TV get to see each race on its scheduled day," said O'Donnell.
