Season summary:

Despite being the fans' most popular driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has the problem that he's the only driver in the four-man Hendrick Motorsports line-up not to be making regular visits to victory lane - his last win was Michigan in 2012. But what he lacks in wins he makes up for in consistency with 22 top ten finishes in 2013 giving him an average finish of 12.6, meaning that he comfortably made the Chase and went on to finish in fifth place in the standings putting him second only to Jimmie Johnson in the Hendrick line-up. Swings and roundabouts for the 39-year-old, it seems.
