Season summary:

Jimmie Johnson has perfected the art of having a solid, unshowy regular season that sets him up nicely to comfortably make the Chase while keeping his powder dry for those all-important last ten races of the season. But after two title-less seasons, that plan was thrown aside and Johnson was on it from the start this year: six wins (and three poles) among 16 top five finishes in 2013 saw him achieve an average finish of 10.7 and soon made him unstoppable as he went on to clinch his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship ahead of Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick.
