TV commentator Parsons says cancer gone

Popular NASCAR TV analyst and former Cup Series Champion Benny Parsons says that the lung cancer he has been battling for the past few months has been beaten and that he now has a clean bill of health.

The 1973 Cup Series Champion, whose broadcasting duties with NBC/TNT have been disrupted since he announced he was suffering with the illness earlier this summer, has undergone several rounds of chemotherapy in the past two months and those sessions appear to have been successful.

Parsons confirmed to his fellow members of the media that he had been given the all clear at the start of the Lowe's Motor Speedway/Bank of America 500 weekend and is now expected to continue his commentating role without any further interruptions.
