TRUCK: Martin wins again as Bodine takes title

NASCAR veteran Todd Bodine clinched his first title in any of NASCAR's three major series on Friday night at the Homestead-Miami Speedway despite struggling in the final Craftsman Truck Series race of the year.

Bodine could only finish 21st in the Ford 200 but was never really threatened for the title as his only remaining rival, fellow Cup Series veteran Johnny Benson, finished 26th. Bodine therefore clinches the 2006 NCTS title for his Germain Motorsports Toyota team by 127 markers.

While the two title contenders struggled, occasional Truck racer Mark Martin once again made mincemeat of the field as he took his sixth win of the year from just 14 starts. His final outing in a Roush Racing prepared Truck helped Martin move up one place to 19th in the points standings, a remarkable achievement considering he has missed eleven of the 25 races this year.

Joe Nemechek started his triple duty weekend with a sixth place finish while Michael Waltrip made up for failing to qualify for the Nextel Cup race with a 17th place finish. Australian Marcos Ambrose was 27th while British driver John Mickel finished 29th in his fifth NCTS race of the season.
