BUSCH: Gilliland to contest part-season with Rensi

Despite graduating to a full-time ride in the Nextel Cup this season, David Gilliland will continue to contest at least part of next year's Busch Series, having agreed terms to share Team Rensi Motorsport's #25 Ford.

The team has landed sponsorship from Experian Consumer Direct, through its FreeCreditReport.com brand, for the next two seasons, and has confirmed that it will field a single Ford for Gilliland and newcomer Richard Johns. The partnership includes a primary sponsorship of the #25 at all scheduled Busch Series events and an associate sponsorship on the #38 M&Ms Ford piloted by Gilliland in the Nextel Cup.

Gilliland has spent the last three months in the Cup Series, having replaced Elliott Sadler in the M&Ms car, but remained in the Busch Series, taking a win at Kentucky Speedway in only his seventh start. He also took a maiden Cup pole at Talladega in the closing weeks of the season, buoying him up for a packed 2007 campaign.

"I'm excited about this opportunity," Gilliland said of the Rensi deal, "I didn't get to run in the Busch Series as much as I had hoped in 2006, so this is a really good opportunity for me, not only to help bring back Team Rensi Motorsports to the level of success they are accustomed, but also to help my Nextel Cup programme.

"All the people associated with Team Rensi Motorsports and FreeCreditReport.com have been great to be around and are great people. Hopefully, I can help a California-based company build a great relationship with this team and with the sport."

Johns, a long-time employee of Team Rensi Motorsports, will make his Busch Series debut next season, but is no stranger behind the wheel of a racecar, having battled for the 2004 Southern All-Stars Super Truck Series title. Earlier this season, he competed in two events in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, finishing seventh on his first outing at Kansas Speedway in July.

"This is the opportunity that I've been working so hard for in every aspect of my life for the past ten years," Johns admitted, "To have the chance to race with Team Rensi Motorsports, especially with the history that I have with them, is just amazing and a real dream come true. I really appreciate FreeCreditReport.com for coming on board and being the key part of this whole thing coming together."
