National Guard will transfer their Nextel Cup sponsorship involvement from Roush Racing's #16 team and driver Greg Biffle to Hendrick Motorsports' #25 team and new signing Casey Mears.

The organisation, which has sponsored Biffle and the #16 Roush team since the start of the 2004 season, will become co-primary sponsors (with GMAC) of the new-look #25 Hendrick team, which is looking to step out of the shadows of the more successful #5. #24 and #48 teams in the Hendrick stable.

While new #25 incumbent Mears will have two primary backers, Biffle and the #16 Roush have announced that Ameriquest, a part-time backer in 2006, will step up to replace National Guard in 2007.
