Shortly after dominating Saturday's pair of Nextel Cup practice sessions it emerged that Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin was suffering with a severe bout of flu but that didn't stop him from completing a perfect day on the track at Dover.
From thinking about handing over his car to incoming JGR driver Kyle Busch and spending much of the pre race ceremonies in the NASCAR medical centre Hamlin led the majority of a crash-filled RoadLoans.com 200 for his third win in 17 Busch Series starts this year.
Taking advantage of numerous energy saving caution periods Hamlin was able to focus what little strength he had on keeping the rest of the field at bay during the short green flag bursts around the one-mile concrete oval.
Hamlin took the chequered flag ahead of his fellow Nextel Cup Chase for the Championship rivals Martin Truex Jr and Matt Kenseth with Busch Series veteran Mike Bliss breaking the Cup Series dominance with a fine run to fourth spot.
Reed Sorenson took fifth with current Busch Series points leader Carl Edwards sixth, Brad Keselowski, Jason Leffler, Greg Biffle and David Reutimann completing the top ten.
With his sixth place effort Edwards increases his overall championship lead to 754 points over Reutimann.
