Kasey Kahne continued his early summer streak with victory in Sunday's Pocono 500 at the Pocono Raceway.

Coors Light pole winner Kahne was the class of the field for virtually the entire 200-lap duration of the 14th round of the 2008 Sprint Cup Series although he and his #9 Gillett-Evernham Motorsports team didn't always have things their own way around the unique triangle shaped two mile track.

A pit road miscue meant Kahne left his pit with several loose lug nuts, which necessitated an extra strop, thankfully under yellow flag conditions. Despite falling out of the top 30 Kahne fought back and was back in the lead prior to the final caution flag of the race just 20 laps from home.

As several other drivers gambled on staying out, Kahne played it safe and took on extra fuel and new tyres, which allowed him to easily outrun gamblers Dale Earnhardt Jr and Brian Vickers for his third win (second to count towards the championship) in the last four weekends.

Vickers held on for second place in his #83 Red Bull Toyota with Denny Hamlin third, Earnhardt Jr fourth and Jeff Burton rounding out the top five.

Jimmie Johnson, who started alongside Kahne on the front row and led the early laps, finished sixth with Matt Kenseth seventh, Kurt Busch eighth despite an early race spin, Carl Edwards ninth after a late puncture ruined his chances and Mark Martin tenth.

Points leader Kyle Busch finished 43rd and last after hitting the front stretch wall following a tangle with Jamie McMurray while Dario Franchitti's return to the cockpit of the #40 Ganassi Racing Dodge ended early after a clash with Sam Hornish Jr.
