Following his departure from the Haas CNC Racing team at the end of the 2008 season, Scott Riggs has inked a deal to join the new Tommy Baldwin Racing team for the 2009 NASCAR campaign.
The 38-year-old will drive the #36 Toyota for the team, which was formed earlier this month by veteran crew chief Baldwin after he was left without a role at Bill David Racing following the sale of the outfit prior to Christmas.
Baldwin will also act as crew chief as well as team owner during the 2009 season.
"Having Scott Riggs on board is a huge stepping stone for Tommy Baldwin Racing," he said. "He's a top-calibre driver and I look forward to seeing the success we can have together."
No sponsors have yet been named for the programme, but Riggs said he was confident that the partnership would be a strong one in the upcoming season.
"I look forward to working with Tommy," he said. "I think we can work together to build something really strong. I feel fortunate to work with someone like Tommy who has so much experience."
