The most successful motocross racer is history will have an opportunity to prove himself in NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series in 2009.

Ricky Carmichael, winner of 150 races and 15 championships (five Supercross and ten national outdoor titles) in the American Motorcyclist Association, will drive a second truck for Kevin Harvick Inc., starting with the season-opening race Feb. 13 at Daytona International Speedway, Harvick announced Tuesday.

With sponsorship from Monster Energy, Carmichael will compete in at least 14 of the 25 truck series races in addition to the season-opening ARCA race Feb. 7 at Daytona. Carmichael will drive the #4 Chevrolet Silverado in the truck series, a departure from the #2 Harvick has used for his second truck since 2006.

Three-time champion Ron Hornaday Jr. will continue to run a full schedule in Harvick's #33 Chevy.

Carmichael competed in NASCAR's Camping World East regional touring series in 2008 and finished sixth in the final standings.
