Nationwide Series team owner Armando Fitz announced Wednesday he has joined forces with Chicago businessman Arthur Shelton to form a new team, Trail Motorsport, that will field entries in NASCAR's Nationwide, Camping World Truck and Camping World East series in 2009.
Former Hendrick Motorsports development driver Chase Austin will compete for the group in the truck series. Jarit Johnson, younger brother of defending three-time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, will drive the team's Camping World East entry.
Sponsorship announcements for all the teams, and the naming of a Nationwide driver, were not made.
The organisation, which absorbs the former Fitz Motorsports that fielded Dodges last season in the Nationwide Series, will field Chevrolets at all three levels.
Former Wood Brothers truck crew chief John Monson will serve as crew chief for Austin, 19, who has yet to be approved by NASCAR to compete in the season-opening truck race at Daytona.
