Auto Club 400 - Race results

Kevin Harvick came out of nowhere and led just one lap out of 200 - but it was the only lap that really mattered, as he stole the win at Fontana from under the noses of Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch.
Sometimes a driver dominates a race and leads from start to finish. And sometimes a driver comes out of nowhere, not looking like he's going to make much of an impact on the race, only to suddenly arrive at the chequered flag before everyone else. The Auto Club 400 at Fontana was emphatically one of the latter kind of races, and Kevin Harvick was the man who delivered when it mattered.

Kyle Busch has looked the dominant driver of the day for most of the laps, especially after having won the preceding day's Nationwide series Royal Purple 300 event at Fontana ahead of Carl Edwards and Harvick. But in the closing laps, Jimmie Johnson seemed set to snatch victory from Kyle - until Harvick suddenly appeared and thwarted them both.

Otherwise, the race was relatively uneventful with only four cautions for the entire afternoon - debris on lap 75, and then David Gilliland hitting the wall on lap 103, Andy Lally spinning on lap 172 and Bobby Labonte slamming into the wall in turn 2 on lap 186.
