Cup - Daytona - Race results

David Ragan got the chance to rewrite history by claiming the maiden Cup win that should have been his at Daytona in February, while multiple accidents caught out the series stars.
David Ragan claimed his first Cup win in 163 starts thanks to a big push from Matt Kenseth at the second attempt at a green-white-chequered flag finish. The first attempt had wrecked a dozen cars, and another multi-car wreck broke out after the white flag flew on the second attempt at a finish, but by then it didn't matter - Ragan was declared the winner.

It was a disastrous night for his team mate Carl Edwards, after a drafting hook-up with Greg Biffle went wrong on lap 23 and saw him finish in 37th place, wiping out his Cup championship lead which now goes to Kevin Harvick who finished in seventh place.

Kyle Busch survived a hard hit against the wall late in the race to finish in fifth place, which promotes him to third place in the Cup points standings. Trevor Bayne - who won the Daytona 500 here in February - exited the race on lap 5 after a mistimed drafting attempt to hook up with Brad Keselowski.
