Cup - Talladega - Qualifying times

Jimmie Johnson is on the front row for Sunday's Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, with his Hendrick team mate Mark Martin starting alongside him on pole.
Jimmie Johnson was just 0.002s off pole position for this week's Chase race, the Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. But he won't mind too much, as the man who beat him to the top position is his Hendrick Motorsports team mate Mark Martin.

It's Mark Martin's 51st pole position in Cup racing after a massive 826 starts during his career, and the third time he will have started at Talladega from pole.

Johnson qualified in second position in the last race held at Talladega earlier this year - and went on to win the race. He will be hoping to repeat the achievement as he attempts to revive his flagging hopes of winning a sixth straight Sprint Cup championship.

Kyle Busch was the worst of the Chase contenders in qualifying, after his primary car was torn up in Friday practice following a blown tyre.
