Trucks - Daytona - Race results

Little known rookie John King emerged as the winner of the Nextera Energy Resources 250 Camping World Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
John King claimed his first win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway, at the end of a crash-filled event that required three green-white-chequered-flag attempts to complete. It was King's first start at Daytona, and only his eighth Truck Series race since joining the championship.

The final positions were ultimately set following a multi-truck crash involving Joey Coulter, James Buescher and Ron Hornaday Jr., with Coulter launched into the air and into the catchfence in a frightening incident.

In qualifying earlier on Friday, King had taken 23rd place. Miguel Paludo had claimed pole position with a lap of 49.583s (181.514mph), edging out former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr. by 0.023s. Paludo went on to lead for over half the race but then spun out on lap 83 and made a hard head-on impact against the infield wall reminiscent of Danica Patrick's Gatorade Duel crash the day before. The #32 was briefly airborne in the impact but Paludo was unhurt.
