Cup - Las Vegas - Saturday practice

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fastest in the two Saturday practice sessions at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, while Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson both suffered damage.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. set the fastest laptime at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the first of Saturday's two Sprint Cup practice sessions, with a lap of 29.196s (184.957 mph) just 0.032s faster than Kasey Kahne.

In the slower afternoon session, Joey Logano's lap of 29.513s (182.970 mph) was enough to put him on top of the timings, 0.044s ahead of Kevin Harvick.

But there were problems for some fancied front runners during today's tract activity. After setting his fastest time during the first practice of the day, Kyle Busch then hit the wall in turn 4 with the rear of the #18, forcing the Joe Gibbs Racing crew to unload the back-up car.

Later in the day Jimmie Johnson did extensive damage to the #48 in the second practice session of the day and also had to unpack the backup car meaning that he will join Busch in having to start Sunday afternoon's Kobalt Tools 400 from the back of the field, along with Juan Montoya who hit the wall early in Friday practice.
