Cup: Michigan - Qualifying times

Marcos Ambrose will start a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from pole position for the first time, after setting a new qualifying record time at Michigan International Speedway.
Marcos Ambrose will start from pole position for Sunday's Quicken Loans 400 race, his first NASCAR Sprint Cup pole position in 134 series starts.

After setting a new record qualifying time at Michigan International Speedway of 35.426s (203.241mph), Ambrose becomes only the fourth driver in Cup history to win a pole position with a lap speed exceeding 200mph - putting him in the company of Benny Parsons, Cale Yarborough and Bill Elliott. It's the 11th-fastest pole-winning speed in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history.

Ambrose will start the race alongside Kevin Harvick, who was 0.211s off the pole time. The second row will comprise Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne.

David Stremme and Stacy Compton failed to qualify, while Carl Edwards had to rely on car owner points to make the 43-car field after the Ford engine in the #99 car experienced problems and he was not able to complete his qualifying lap.
