Nationwide: Michigan - Race results

Joey Logano won the Alliance Truck Parts 250 Nationwide Series race at Michigan International Speedway, after holding off James Buescher to the chequered flag.
Joey Logano continued a strong recent run of performances in both Nationwide and Cup competition, claiming victory by two tenths of a second over James Buescher in a hard-fought climax to Saturday's Alliance Truck Parts 250 Nationwide Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

It's Logano's fifth victory and eighth top ten finish in 2012, matching is previous best showing in 2009. In total, his first-ever victory at Michigan provided the 22-year-old with his 14th win in 99 Nationwide starts.

Earlier, series rookie Austin Dillon had claimed pole position with a lap of 37.820s (190.376mph), his first pole in 24 Nationwide starts. He was 0.133s ahead of Cole Whitt who joined him on the second row of the grid, with Logano and Buescher starting immediately behind them.

Like their Cup counterparts, the Nationwide Series cars also got additional practice sessions on the newly repaved two-mile oval Michigan International Speedway before the race in order to get used to the new, faster surface and to dial in their cars to the new conditions.

Elliott Sadler now leads the Nationwide Series championship by 8pts, with Austin Dillon taking over second spot from reigning champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. whose poor run of form in 2012 continued at Michigan with a 25th place finish two laps off the lead.
