Nationwide: Road America - Race results

Former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr. finally had his breakthrough success at a national level in NASCAR, claiming both pole and the race win at Road America on Saturday.
Nelson Piquet Jr. took his first race win in one of NASCAR's three national-level championships, claiming victory in the Sargento 200 Nationwide Series road race at Road America.

Piquet held off strong competition from the likes of experienced series competitor Michael McDowell and Canadian road racer Ron Fellows, as well as two more former F1 drivers Jacques Villeneuve and Max Papis. Former IRL champion Sam Hornish Jr. and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick were also in the field.

While he's a series regular in the third-tier Camping World Truck Series, this was only Piquet's third Nationwide Series start in his US career to date: earlier, he had managed to take his first series pole position by smashing the previous track qualifying record earlier on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Brazilian - who is a regular in the Camping World Truck Series in 2012 - was driving the Qualcomm/Autotrac Chevrolet #30 car for Harry Scott Jr. this weekend. The estimated crowd at Road America was 56,000.
