Cup: Kentucky - Qualifying times

Jimmie Johnson will start from pole position for Saturday night's Quaker State 400 Cup race, with Kyle Busch alongside him and Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick on row two.
Jimmie Johnson took pole position for the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway. His qualifying lap of 29.700s (181.818mph) late on Friday afternoon came after a brief stoppage for high winds sweeping the facility, and was just 0.065s faster than Kyle Busch. Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick will form the second row of the grid.

It's Johnson's 26th pole in 380 series starts, and his first in 2012 although he will have started in the top ten for 11 of the 17 races so far this season. Josh Wise was the fastest qualifying rookie in 30th, and JJ Yeley and Mike Skinner were the two cars that failed to qualify for the race on speed.

Busch had previously topped Practice 1 with a time of 30.371s (177.801 mph) ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr., while Jeff Gordon topped Practice 2 with a lap of 30.840s (175.097 mph) ahead of Brad Keselowski.
