Nationwide: Daytona - Race results

Kurt Busch put the #1 Phoenix Racing car into victory lane at Daytona International Speedway, thanks to a push across the finishing line from Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Kurt Busch won his fifth Nationwide Series race in 23 starts by clinching the Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway under the floodlights on Friday night.

It's Busch's first win in Nationwide at Daytona. He was driving for James Finch's Phoenix Racing team, which notched up its 13th series win and its second visit to victory lane at Daytona.

Earlier, Austin Dillon had topped qualifying with a lap of 50.750s (177.340mph), which would have given him his third pole in his rookie season. However, the #3 car failed post-session technical inspection and Dillon's time was deleted, handing pole instead to reigning series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. starting instead alongside Cole Whitt.

Dillon started from the back row of the 43-car grid. He had also been penalised mid-week for a technical infringement as a result of an incorrect bolt being used following his win at Kentucky. That saw him docked 6pts and dropped him out of the lead of the Nationwide Series championship, with Elliott Sadler now 2pts ahead of Dillon in the standings coming out of Daytona.

On Thursday, Stenhouse Jr. and Clint Bowyer had set identical times to lead the first practice session with laps of 47.109s (191.046 mph) just 0.033s than both Busch brothers, with Kyle and Kurt also posting identical times. Brad Keselowski topped the second session with a time of 47.682s (188.751) mph but only 15 of the 43-car field took part.

Problems with his back forced Denny Hamlin out of his scheduled run in the #18 Dollar General Toyota and was replaced by Joe Gibbs Racing Sprint Cup team mate Joey Logano instead.
