Cup: Daytona - Qualifying times

Matt Kenseth claimed pole position for Saturday evening's Coke Zero 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway, while Tony Stewart had his times deleted.
Just over a week after announcing he was to leave Roush Fenway Racing, NASCAR Sprint Cup series points leader Matt Kenseth claimed his first pole position of the year for this weekend's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

It's Kenseth's eighth pole position in the series in 13 years and 454 starts at Cup level, and his first since he started from the front at Phoenix last November.

Kenseth was expecting to start alongside reigning Cup champion Tony Stewart at the start of the race, but Stewart's times were deleted for a technical infringement and instead it's his Stewart/Haas team mate Ryen Newman who is elevated to the front row.

In the two practice sessions held on Thursday, Aric Almirola topped the first 80-minute session with a lap of 44.563s (201.961 mph), just 0.130s faster than Marcos Ambrose; while in the later session Jamie McMurray was fastest with a lap of 45.492s (197.837 mph) in a strangely under-attended early evening session with only 24 of the 44 cars taking part.
