Nationwide: Chicagoland - Race results

A sickly Elliott Sadler felt much better after beating long-time race leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to victory lane in Sunday's STP 300 Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
Elliott Sadler overcame illness and longtime race leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to come up trumps in the green-white-chequered finish to the STP 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

It's Sadler's first win at Chicacgoland, his eighth victory in 182 series starts and his third win in 2012. With this win, Sadler extends his lead in the point standings by 11pts over Austin Dillon, while Stenhouse Jr. remains in third place ahead of Sam Hornish Jr. and Justin Allgaier.

Roush Fenway's Stenhouse Jr. had started from pole position, after heading Sunday qualifying with a lap of 30.523s (176.916mph) putting him 0.023s ahead of series rookie Dillon (Richard Childress Racing.) It was Stenhouse Jr.'s seventh pole in 91 Nationwide Series starts and his third of the 2012 season.

The second row saw Penske's Sam Hornish Jr. line up alongside owner-driver Kyle Busch, with RCR's Parker Kligerman and Joe Gibbs Racing's Brian Scott on the third row immediately behind them. Sadler had started from 15th place.

Kligerman had previously topped practice 2 on Saturday with a laptime of 31.269s (172.695 mph) while Kyle Busch - making the most of a rare weekend off for the Sprint Cup series - had earlier topped practice 1 with a lap of 31.496s (171.450 mph) on the 1.5 miles tri-oval Chicagoland Speedway.
