Alex Tagliani, one of Canada's favourite motorsporting local heroes, will start Saturday afternoon's NAPA Auto Parts 200 from pole position at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Alex Tagliani - moonlighting from his regular driving duties in the IZOD IndyCar Series - flew the home colours for the Canadians with pole position at the NASCAR Nationwide Series outing in Montreal.

Tagliani recorded a time of 100.865s (96.688mph) in Friday evening qualifying at the 14-turn, 2.71-mile road course on the Ile de Notre Dame which played host to the F1 Grand Prix of Canada earlier this year.

Tagliani finished second in last year's race here, but this is his first pole position in four Nationwide Series race starts, after he edged out Sam Hornish Jr. by just four hundredths of a second for the top position.

Another local hero, Jacques Villeneuve, will start the NAPA Auto Parts 200 from third position - and will line up alongside Danica Patrick, whom he notoriously punted out of their last joint Nationwide Series outing at Road America two months ago.
