Nelson Piquet Jr. became only the second driver born outside of the US to win a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, by claiming victory in the VFW 200 at the two-mile Michigan International Speedway by a margin of eight seconds over second placed Jason White.

It's Piquet's first win in the series, but comes after earlier wins in the year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Road America and in the regional K&N Pro Series East at Bristol Motor Speedway in March.

The win came in Piquet's 42nd Truck race and makes him the fifth first time winner in 2012 in the series. There have now been 10 different winners in the
12 races this season. Piquet is the first Brazilian driver to win in the Truck series; the only non-US born driver to win a race in the series before him is Canadian Ron Fellows.

Earlier in the day, Joey Coulter had claimed his first pole position in the Truck Series in 37 race starts. He'd previously started from the front row in second place on five times before finally clinching pole this week.
