Denny Hamlin started the evening with a dance at driver introductions, and then waltzed away with victory in the IRWIN Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Denny Hamlin claimed his third victory of the 2012 with a win for Joe Gibbs Racing under the floodlights in the IRWIN Tools Night Race at the short half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway oval.

It's Hamlin's 20th win in 246 NASCAR Sprint Cup races, and the first time that he's won at Bristol. He beat Hendrick Motorsports duo Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon to the line after a race lasting over three hours and comprising 13 cautions.

Hamlin's team mate Joey Logano - who won Saturday's Nationwide race at Bristol - led the most laps with 139 of the 500 laps in front, but he had to be content with eighth at the finish. The third JGR team mate Kyle Busch did slightly better and finished in sixth which puts him back into a provisional wild card spot for the Chase, after Ryan Newman was involved in an early accident and finished in 36th place.

Despite finishing back in 19th place, Greg Biffle retains the lead of the championship and is now locked into the Chase with two races remaining, along with Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
