Clint Bowyer won the Federated Auto Parts 400 night race at Richmond, which started late because of rain and survived a red flag stoppage for showers to run full distance.
Clint Bowyer claimed his second victory of 2012 and his seventh in 243 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race starts by winning the rain-hit Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Bowyer won the three-hour race by just over a second from Jeff Gordon, a result that pushes Gordon ahead of Kyle Busch in the points standings and means that the four-time champion clinches the final wildcard spot for the Chase in preference to the Joe Gibbs Racing driver.

Gordon's Hendrick Motorsports team mate Kasey Kahne clinched the other wildcard spot, and reigning Cup champion Tony Stewart finished in the tenth position in the points standings to confirm his appearance in the post-season Chase shootout battle for this year's championship title.
