Nationwide: Kentucky - Race results

Austin Dillon won the Saturday Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway, after early leaders Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Elliott Sadler both hit problems during the Kentucky 300.
Series rookie Austin Dillon claimed his second Nationwide Series victory in 38 starts with victory in the Kentucky 300 at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway, which was also the scene of his first series win in June.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had led the first 32 laps of the race but then hit problems on pit road and then overcooked his recovery drive to put the #6 into the wall and leave him on a damage limitation effort for the rest of the day that ended in 17th place.

Elliott Sadler took up the mantle and led for 93 laps of the 200-lap Kentucky 300, but then suffered power steering issues that mean he waned in the final quarter of the race to finish in fifth place and give his Richard Childress Racing team mate Dillon the window of opportunity to claim the race win.

As a result of the setbacks for Sadler and Stenhouse, Dillon moves within 19pts of the lead of the Nationwide standings: Sadler retakes the top spot from Stenhouse by just 4pts.

Earlier, Dillon had claimed pole position with a lap of 30.463s (177.264mph) putting him 0.324s ahead of Stenhouse who joined him on the front row for the start of the race. It was Dillon's third pole and his second this year at Kentucky.

With 43 cars entered for the race, all of them made the grid for the start of the race.
