Cup: Dover - Qualifying times

Denny Hamlin posted the best time in qualifying to clinch pole position for this weekend's third Chase outing of the 2012 season, at a circuit that he's never found to his liking before.
Denny Hamlin shrugged off doubts that Dover International Speedway might be his Chase Achilles heel and instead put the #11 car into pole position for Sunday's AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Hamlin's lap of 22.599s (159.299 mph) on the one-mile oval was just five thousandths of a second faster than Michael Waltrip Racing's Clint Bowyer, who will start alongside the Joe Gibbs Racing car on the front row for the third Chase race of the 2012 season.

It's Hamlin's third pole of the current season and his 12th pole in 252 Cup starts. It's the first time in his Cup career that he will start from pole position at Dover, his best previous effort having been third place back in 2008.

David Stremme, Mike Bliss, Jason Leffler, Cole Whitt, Kelly Bires all failed to qualify for the 43-car grid based on their times, but Danica Patrick qualified the #10 in 38th place for the race.
