Matt Kenseth survived a crash-packed Hollywood Casino 400 at the newly-paved and reconfigured Kansas Speedway on Sunday afternoon. The 1.5-mile tri-oval circuit that proved a tricky proposition for the entire field to get to grips with in race trim: there were a total of 14 cautions meaning that 66 of the 267 laps were under caution, and there were even more incidents that didn't bring out the yellows along the way.

Kenseth's victory is his third of 2012 and his second of the Chase, having previously driven to victory lane at Talladega two weeks ago. It's his 24th win in 468 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts, putting him on the same tally as Busch brothers Kyle and Kurt. It's the first time he's won at Kansas in 14 attempts.

A big save from Brad Keselowski, together with Jimmie Johnson managing to drive back from a mid-race wreck in the wall to a top ten finish, means that the Chase standings remain relatively stable after Kansas. The exception to the rule was Greg Biffle, by far the biggest loser of the week as he tumbles five places to 11th in the standings after crashing out of third place and ending up classified in 27th.

Drivers had received extra practice time on Saturday after Friday's qualifying session. Biffle had topped the first practice of the day with a time of 29.008s (186.156s) while his Roush Fenway team mate Kenseth was fastest in the later session at 29.547s (182.760s), both markedly down on the searing times posted by the entire field in qualifying.
