A quiet day saw the Sprint Cup drivers mainly biding their time and ensuring no further harm came to their race cars ahead of the weekend.
The day after the two Budweiser Duels proved a particularly quiet practice for Sprint Cup drivers, with only 14 turning out for the first session which saw Aric Almirola go top with a lap of 45.699s (196.941mph) on the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway.

There were more takers - 22 in all - for the later session, which included Carl Edwards and Trevor Bayne in their back-up cars after their main cars were damaged in yesterday's events. Tony Stewart ended up with the fastest time of the session and of the day with a lap of 45.655s (197.131 mph).

The only incident of the day was a transmission issue for Regan Smith in the #51 Phoenix Racing car that saw him stall on pit road.
