Bristol - Nationwide results

Kyle Busch was feeling in a winning mood on Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway, after beating rookie Kyle Larson to the line by just 0.023s.
Kyle Busch claimed his 105th Nationwide Series win and his fifth at Bristol Motor Speedway in Saturday afternoon's 'Jeff Foxworthy's Grit Chips 300' race having led 156 of the 300 laps, but it ended up in a close-run finish that took all Busch's racing skills to hold off 20-year-old rookie Kyle Larson. In the championship standings, Sam Hornish Jr. improved his lead to 22 points over Justin Allgaier

Polesitter Allgaier led for the first 62 laps of the race before losing the top spot to Trevor Bayne during the first round of pit stops, but 14 laps later Bayne himself got caught up behind traffic on the crowded half-mile concrete oval which allowed Kyle Busch to take over command of the race for the first time, having started from 13th place. Busch held the lead through a caution for a fiery wreck involving Jamie Dick and Nelson Piquet Jr. on lap 102

After a separate multiple-car accident on lap 160 involving Austin Dillon, Reed Sorenson, Jeffrey Earnhardt and Hal Martin, it was Brad Keselowski who took over at the restart only to end up running over a large chunk of debris which left the #22 with a damaged front splitter. Keselowski then picked up more serious damage hitting the wall as a result of battling with Regan Smith, which put him a lap down for repairs and left Kevin Harvick vying for the lead with Busch. The two veterans were soon joined in contention at the front by series rookie Kyle Larson.

A late caution for Jason White getting into the wall with 36 laps to go set up a final shootout between the two Kyles after Harvick opted to pit for two fresh tyres which dropped him behind the two Brians, Vickers and Scott. Trying to get back to the front, Harvick made contact with Scott - his Richard Childress Racing team mate - which sent the #2 tumbling to tenth place; but Harvick wasn't able to capitalise and he lost fourth place in the closing laps to Sam Hornish Jr. At the front Busch's greater experience delivered the win - barely - over the precocious talent of Larson, but only by squeezing the #32 tight against the wall coming out of the final turn.
