Iowa: Nationwide results

Trevor Bayne won the delayed DuPont Pioneer 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway after it was rolled over to Sunday morning because of rain.
On Saturday night at Iowa Speedway, there was only one winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series - and that was the weather. Just as the drivers were preparing to get the proceedings underway, a line of storms rolled in on Saturday evening and made it impossible to get the race underway as scheduled, forcing the DuPont Pioneer 250 to roll over to Sunday morning instead.

Before the rain had set in, earlier on Saturday Austin Dillon had won his sixth pole in 56 Nationwide starts and his third in 2013 alone to lead the field to the green flag with Sam Hornish Jr. alongside him. The two traded the lead between them for the first 135 laps of the 250-lap race, before Trevor Bayne and Michael Annett got brief look-ins for a handful of laps.

Dillon resumed the lead again just before three-car accident involving a heavy hit for Travis Pastrana then segued into a heavy rain shower passing over the 0.88-mile short track that forced an hour-long red flag for track drying to take place. When the race resumed, Dillon continued to lead until there was just a dozen laps to go to the finish, at which point the #3 car started to run out of stream on the long caution-free lap and left the door open for Bayne to retake the top spot and hold it to the chequered flag. It was a great way to end the week for Bayne, who got married on Tuesday in North Carolina.

It's Bayne's second win in 97 Nationwide Series starts and his first in 2013, but with points leader Regan Smith in the top ten there is little movement in the standings, with Smith now holding a 23 points lead over Hornish.
