Qualifying times: Sharpie 500.

Qualifying times, Sharpie 500, Bristol Motor Speedway, Tennessee, 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series round 24 of 36.

A driver looking increasingly like a five-time champion and 2004's biggest find will share the front row for the Sharpie 500 at Bristol. Series leader Jeff Gordon knows how to win here, he's done so five times before, while Kasey Kahne needs to survive the inevitable carnage on the half-mile speedway to score well, maybe take his first Nextel Cup win, and protect his vital 10th place in the championship chase.

Jimmie Johnson, second in the championship and Gordon's team-mate, starts 11th, third-placed Dale Earnhardt Jr back in 30th, six places behind Kurt Busch, a driver everyone will be watching as he's won five of his last six Bristol starts.

The race starts around 7.30pm Eastern Time on Saturday, half past midnight in the UK. Check back to Crash.net for a full report and results.
