What an extraordinary championship it's been for Tony Stewart. Although he just managed to sneak into the Chase after frustrating regular season, Stewart was dismissive about his chances of achieving anything and even said publicly that the pot would be better off going to someone who actually had a chance of doing something with it. He shocked everyone - even himself - by promptly winning the first two Chase events, his first wins all year; but those were on fuel mileage and the next two races seemed to confirm a return to mediocrity. How, then, to explain his final few outings: winning three of the last four races, including that astonishing 'race to destiny' in the season finale at Homestead-Miami to claim his third championship? It was astounding - far-fetched even for a Hollywood biopic, and proof that truth trumps fiction every time.
