Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski

After winning the 2010 Nationwide Series, and then making the Sprint Cup Chase (on a wins wild card) in 2011 despite breaking his ankle in a mid-season testing accident at Road America, no one was denying that Brad Keselowski was a star of the future. It's just that no one expected the future to arrive quite so soon as it did, with the Penske driver easily making it into the 2012 Chase (on outright points merit this time) and then slamming in two early wins at Chicago and Dover in the championship play-offs (to add to three victories during the regular season) to put him into the lead halfway through. Even so, many expected the youngster to falter and for Jimmie Johnson's experience to come good and allow him claim his sixth crown: it didn't happen, and instead it was Keselowski who claimed his first Sprint Cup championship - the first of many one suspects, given his unerring rise to the top in NASCAR to date.
