The 25-year-old Frenchman has turned heads by regularly beating experienced team-mate and double MotoGP race winner Makoto Tamada, and delighted his home fans by firing into the lead of the wet French Grand Prix, on his way to an eventual tenth place finish with the Dunlop shod M1.

Guintoli, who spent five seasons as a privateer in the 250GP class, is the first confirmed signing for Ducati's satellite team - which currently fields Alex Hofmann and Alex Barros, the Brazilian having taken a podium finish at Mugello.

Honda Gresini rider Toni Elias is also known to have an offer from Luis d'Antin, while Chaz Davies has emerged as a late contender following an impressive test for the Italian factory. However, Ducati appear to want the 20-year-old as a factory test rider.
