Subaru team leader
Petter Solberg has said that while some details still have to 'come together' he is hopeful he will be able to push for the win on the Rally d'Italia Sardegna.
Although Petter did not finish on the Rally Argentina two weeks ago, when he was forced out with mechanical issues, the Norwegian was running well before he had problems and looked well placed to take the final place on the podium.
Speaking prior to this weekend's event, the seventh round in the 2007
FIA World Rally Championship and prior to his one-day development test with the team at the weekend, he added that the Banbury-based outfit is definitely going in the right direction with the new Subaru Impreza WRC2007.
“I really hope we can start to push for a win again in Sardinia,” he noted last week. “I'm starting to miss the feeling of being on the podium at the end of a rally. My plan is to win again very soon – doing well in rallying is the most important thing in my life – but there are some details that still have to come together.
“Sardinia is a rally we have won before, and we always have a good feeling on these stages, so maybe this could be a good rally for us.
"We are on the right track and if we have a good test in Sardinia this weekend I'll be looking forward to making a strong challenge in the rally.”
For the record, Sardinia has been good to Petter in the past and while he was only ninth last year, he was second in 2005 and took the win there back in 2004.
