OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally team boss, Jackie Bozian has revealed that they want to try and overhaul Subaru for third place in the manufacturers' during the remainder of the season.
The OMV Peugeot squad have had a strong season to date in the
FIA World Rally Championship, and are easily the best 'Manufacturer 2' outfit, having scored almost twice as many points as
Stobart VK Ford.
Currently the Bozian-run outfit have notched up 59 points, 20 less than
Subaru, although OMV have only been able to score manufacturers' points on eight of the 12 events thus far, while Subaru have been able to score on all of them.
Furthermore, during the eight events they have both been able to score points on, OMV have managed to notch up 59, while Subaru have only taken 52. As such the team are eager to try and put pressure on Subaru in the final quarter of the season, when they will have both of their drivers' - namely Manfred Stohl and
Henning Solberg, in action.
"Sometimes one has to aim for higher goals in order to motivate the whole team," explained Jackie, "because of the regulations we haven't changed anything on the Peugeot 307 since the beginning of the season but the performance curve of Manfred and Henning is definitely in our favour. I am sure that if we all together we will make this work out."
For the record, to date this season, Stohl's best finish was a third place finish in Mexico, while Henning's best result was a fourth in Finland.
