The BBC's Sports Personality of the Year is on the horizon - with the final shortlist being announced a week on Friday - and, after a bumper year for British motor sport, there are some top contenders from the world of racing.

Lewis Hamilton is the outright favourite at the moment, with betting odds of 6-4; Toseland and Priaulx don't even feature as far as Ladbrokes are concerned. Interesting, since the Touring car and superbike aces are the two who have World Titles under their belt.
