POLL: Was WMSC verdict fair?
By now, the outcome of the World Motor Sport Council's second hearing into the 'spygate' affair has been widely reported, but was the verdict and, more importantly, the whole hearing handled correctly?
Much has been made about the FIA's alleged favouritism towards Ferrari - something that has been suggested for years - and that there is a witch-hunt against Mclaren and Ron Dennis, but is the Woking team entirely free from blame, having admitted to chief designer Mike Coughlan having the dossier of Ferrari data in his possession?
And what of the decisions taken by the WMSC? Was the fine levied against McLaren out of proportion to the alleged crime? Was it right to penalise the team and not the drivers? How is the team allowed to use prize money to offset its financial penalty but loses all points?
Ferrari insists that it is 'satisfied' with the outcome in Paris, while McLaren admits that it will consider an appeal if the reasons for the punishment - surprisingly, not disclosed until hours after the penalties were applied - merit the WMSC's decision.
