Is Donington the right place for the race?
21.09.2006 Silverstone, England, Lewis Hamilton (GBR), Mclaren Mercedes, MP4-21
Formula 1 will return to Donington Park for the first time in 15 years in 2010, with the announcement that the Leicestershire track is to host the British Grand Prix. The ten-year deal that has been struck means that Silverstone – the self-styled ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ and traditional home to the event for 41 of the past 58 years, since the official inception of the F1 World Championship – has been left out in the cold, after circuit owners the British Racing Drivers’ Club failed to agree financial terms with the sport’s commercial rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone.A £100 million investment has been announced to help bring Donington up to F1 standards, and there is undoubtedly much work to be done.So here’s your chance to have your say – is Donington the right place for the British Grand Prix to be held, or should it have remained at Silverstone…or even moved somewhere else altogether?
