Mitsubishi's Gwyndaf Evans is one of six drivers still in with a chance of taking the BRC title on the Wales Rally GB - the final round in the 2007 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship. Crash.net Radio caught up with him at the pre-Wales Rally GB press day earlier this month and got his thoughts on the season to date and more...

Crash.net:
Gwyndaf, it has not been the happiest of years for you results wise. Obviously you got the ride with Mitsubishi after your success in 2006, but it has not worked out necessarily the way you would have expected…

Gwyndaf Evans:
Not quite. I have had a good time though and at least I have still been pretty competitive against Mark [Higgins] and Guy [Wilks] all year and that has been pretty special. We have been unfortunate. We have had retirements on three key events and that has probably cost us the championship lead. But at the end of the day we have still fought through. We have had some good performances and the championship is still not decided. We can still mathematically win it on Rally GB. It is not finished until it is finished.

Crash.net:
You are third in the championship - you are four points off your team-mate, Guy Wilks and 20 points off Mark Higgins. Rally GB is a double-header for the BRC, so how will you approach it, presumably in order to catch Mark you have to go flat-out throughout?

GE:
Yeah - but, we have done that pretty much all season to be honest and so it will be nothing new. They have to go flat-out as well though too – and so therefore it is fine.

Crash.net:
Will there be any team tactics? Are you there to help Guy or are you there for yourself?

GE:
I think I have helped him enough as it is! I am there for Gwyndaf Evans now!

Crash.net:
What are your thoughts on the BRC in general this year?

GE:
I think there has been quite a divide between the three of us and the rest to be honest - there's not been much depth. But there are a lot of youngsters coming through. Phillip Morrow won the Evo Challenge and he has been going quite strong. I am sure with another year under his belt he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Crash.net:
You have been running on a control tyre this year. Has that been good or is it something you don't really agree with?

GE:
It is what we have got and we have got to work with it at the end of the day. At least it is all equal.

Crash.net:
Do you think there should be more events in the BRC?

GE:
At the end of the day it is only people like you that ask me those questions. I would change quite a lot if I was running it. But I only see it from my own end. There are just so many parties to please in running a championship and I think they have done a good job. But I think the costs of some of the events and the time away from home still probably needs to be looked at. If there was more short and sharp events then maybe they could include a couple more.

Crash.net:
You son, Elfyn has been competing this year in the FSTUK. How proud are you of him and are you looking over your shoulder yet?

GE:
