Evans joins JRM for Ulster International

The JR Motorsports Rally Team has confirmed the signing of former BRC title winner Gwyndaf Evans for the upcoming Ulster International Rally.

Evans will join JRM regular driver David Bogie in a two-car team for the fifth round of the season, with the decision take to aid the team in development of its Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.

Evans has already had chance to test the car, having had a run in Bogie's machine in late July.

“I was really impressed with the Evo X,” he said. “It's a fast car and with a few changes to the set up I'm sure it won't be long before we see it winning rallies. I was great to be asked to drive a Mitsubishi again and, although I realise that my main role is one of development, I still enjoy competing in the British Championship, especially when there's the prospect of getting a good result in store.”

Bogie heads to Ulster on the back of a recent win in the Scottish Rally Championship and will look to get his BRC campaign back on track after disappointing results in the last two events.

“The past two events have been frustrating, but after rejoining the Isle of Man Rally on the second day we managed to get some miles under our belt and work on the set-up of the car,” he said. “The Evo X is still a new entity in terms of its development, but I don't think it's far away now and it would be great to get another podium finish this weekend.”
