Heroic charge for Grehan

Teenager Henri Grehan ended a mixed season in the BTRDA in fine style when he took overall two-wheel drive honours on last weekends Cambrian Rally in Llundudno.

The 19-year-old, who has been co-driven by Shane Bowen in the Plas Lime supported Mk II Escort all season long, topped the times for the opening pair of stages but steering problems in stage three dented his confidence.

After leading the two wheel drive category initially the young plasterer dropped down the leader board as he struggled with the ill handling car. By the end of stage five, Grahan had come to grips with the steering maladies and headed into the final stage ready for a big attack. A massive push saw the young pairing set a top ten overall time through Penmachno 2, going quicker even than a Hyundai World Rally Car.

This hard charge was to prove worthwhile as Grehan clinched both a class win and the overall two-wheel drive honours en route to 13th overall.

“What a day,” he reflected. “It pretty much sums up the season. We've shown we have the pace to lead the way and today we finally came out trumps. We've done a lot of work to the car this year and I feel that, as a driver, I have developed a lot. Now we will just focus on 2008. I can't wait!”

Grehan ends the 2007 season with two class wins under his belt and fourth in class B11 in the championship.
