Stars: Roy: My aim was to finish and we did...

Indian driver S D Roy ended his British Rally Championship (BRC) Stars 1400 Championship season on a high as he finished 31st overall on Saturday's Tempest 2 Rally.

Milton Keynes driver Roy and Wisbech co-driver Bradley Magnus came home sixth in the BRC Stars 1400 series and fourth in class S1 in their 1400cc MG ZR in the seventh and final round.

The crew had a trouble-free run in their Creative Media prepared MG across the 45-mile Aldershot-based gravel event to end their campaign on a positive note as Roy finished fifth overall in the drivers' championship and third in the FIA class standings after completing six of the seven rounds.

“I really enjoyed the stages but I wasn't at all happy with my driving,” Calcutta-born Roy said. “The car was fine and ran really, really well but I just wasn't on form. I was not happy with my times; I was lacking confidence in myself.

“My aim was to ultimately finish and the most important thing is that I did. We had no problems or drama all day.

“I've enjoyed the Stars championship this year, I've finished every round but the opening one, the Pirelli. To end the season on the podium in the class table is great. I'd like to thank CMCL for their great help in preparing the car and both of my co-drivers this season – Max Hall and Bradley for their help.”

Roy and Magnus will next be in action when they contest Wales Rally GB, the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship and the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, on November 29 to December 2 in their MG ZR.
