The Historic Rally Car Register will celebrate the start of its 25th anniversary year during the fourth annual Open Day at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon on Saturday 12 January 2008.
Full details of the ever-growing range of HRCR activities will be available: the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the new Historic Stage Rally Challenge, the Northern Historic Stage Rally Championship, the Clubmans Rally Championship and the new 100 Rally Series as well as full details of the latest developments for the Road Rally Championship.
Organisers of individual championship rounds and many other diverse historic rallies will be on hand to talk to competitors about their 2008 events, as well as some championship sponsors and supporters.
In addition, for those seeking to make a start in the sport, information will be available for the Newcomers Rally Schools and UK Scenic Tours. Championship registration will be available where appropriate.
For the first time, the event will include a 'live action' element, with a demonstration arena for the type of tests regularly included on rounds of the HRCR Clubmans Rally Championship. Meanwhile, another new feature will be an autojumble area for HRCR members to sell parts and components relevant to historic rallying. The HRCR Club Shop will also be open for business.
A display of historic rally cars will be staged outside, including a 'cars for sale' section, while a display of the 2007 HRCR championship winning cars will be staged inside the main hall.
The Open Day is free of charge to members and non-members alike, and will start at 9.30am and run until 4.30pm. Non-members are most welcome to take a closer look at the HRCR and its activities. It is the perfect chance for those considering any branch of historic rallying to find out more about one of the fastest growing areas of the sport in Britain. Special extended membership offers will be available to anyone joining the HRCR on the day.
The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon is just off junction 12 of the M40 near Warwick. The on-site café will be open and visitors to the Open Day will have the chance of a reduced rate admission to the recently refurbished Heritage Motor Museum.
