"It was the first time for myself and Ally in the car, it was our first time doing the pace-notes and our first time doing all the events as well.
"On our first international rally together [the Pirelli] myself and Ally finished fourth and we finished fourth at the end of the year as well [on round 7 of the BRC, days 2 and 3 of the Wales Rally GB].
"We had a few issues with the car [at times]. It was nothing we couldn't sort out, but it does cost you time and time is points at the end of the day.
"To be leading halfway through the year though was more through consistency than pace. However we weren't there to win this year. We were there to get the mileage for 2008."
So what did he learn most?
"Just to keep my head under pressure," he summed-up. "When we were leading everybody was expecting big things from us. But the key was not to let it get to us and just get to the end of the rallies and do our own thing."
